Marty's, the store with more for less!
While Spain has the most acreage under vine, it is only the third largest wine producing country in the world behind Italy and France. Archaeologists have determined that wine vines were cultivated about 6000 years ago, long before the Phoenicians founded a colony near Cadiz in 1100 BC.
There is no hope of covering the range and breadth of wine available from Spain in this short description. Spain uses over 600 grape varieties in nearly 100 regions to make an incredible range of wine. Some of the more famous varieties include Tempranillo, Monastrell, and Garnacha for red; Albarino, Verdelho, and Xarel-lo for white; Palomino and Pedro Ximinez for Sherry.
